Cabbage juice is one of the best drinks you could ever ingest as a healing ‘magic potion’.
The first time I came across cabbage as a potential healing natural vegetable is when I was at university.
At the time, I had a friend called Gabby from France.
She was doing her Ph.D. research on cancer and one Friday we ended up talking about what she does around a student meal.
Gabby was really excited that night.
She said, that’s it, I am 100% sure that I’ll get my Doctorate. I was a little bemused and asked her why?
Straight she replied. I have now got my laboratory results and I have quantified that cabbage is a great plant to fight cancer.
I was astonished by this statement.
But wait, she added, I had 10 patients who had cancer at various stages.
I made them eat cabbage in substantial doses (Please do not ask me how much, I do not know).
Then I kept monitoring them for months.
The results are clear: 6 out of 10 patients have reduced their cancer size. To that, I said ‘Ouch’.
Then comes the second wave of good news: 2 out of 10 patients are clear of cancer. Another ‘Ouch’.
And finally, 1 patient cancer has stabilized and the last one the cancer is still progressing.
Though she was happy with her findings, she was still annoyed that she could not find a solution to the last patient.
She wished she could cure him or at least stop the progress of the tumor.
Unfortunately, she said, science is great, but not perfect for everyone and I need to continue my fight against cancer.
The moral of the story is that there are many cabbage juice benefits and I wanted to share with you 10 of the best and how to make cabbage juice too.
Benefits of cabbage juice
There are literally hundreds of benefits of cabbage that we can discuss. However, we wanted to make sure that you get the most of these by simply highlighting the most important to you.
That is why we only shortlisted 10 benefits and summarized an extra 15 at the bottom of this post.
1- Raw cabbage juice anti-carcinogenic properties
Juicing cabbage (raw) is really important for your health.
The vegetable contains isocyanates.
Isocyanates belong to a group of chemical compounds that accelerate the process of estrogen metabolism.
It is this process that helps your body fight different types of cancer.
Ingesting cabbage on a regular basis has shown positive results against breast cancer.
Similarly, it has shown really good results to fight lung cancer, prostate cancer, stomach cancer, and colon cancer.
If you are a victim of cancer, then eating cabbage will support the overall healing process and it was shown that it can even speed it up.
2- Losing weight with cabbage juice
Raw cabbage juice can help you in losing bodyweight and bad cholesterol (3).
Here is how cabbage does it. It simply purifies your intestine (the upper section).
When you purify that intestine, you are effectively helping your guts to get rid of ‘your internal’ waste product (so to speak).
But what is most important is that you restore your body’s ability to digest food easily and more effectively.
As such, by improving the overall functioning of your digestion system, you are allowing your guts to get rid of excess much easier.
In addition to the above, cabbage is known to have low-calorie content. Low calorie ingests means low fat ingests, which surely will lead to lower weight.
3- Cabbage used as a bowel cleanser
Something as important as your bowels should never be undermined.
As such, you need to look into cabbage as a means to treat colitis. (4)
If you do not know what is colitis then you just need to understand that it is an inflammation of the colon.
When you have such inflammation, it can be really sore. At times it can lead to some internal bleeding.
Cabbage contains two important minerals that help treat colitis problems.
The first mineral is Chlorine and the second one is Sulfur.
Believe it or not, these are very strong in fighting and healing your inflammation.
And it does this at two locations within your body.
The large intestine and then the colon.
I know you may not want to hear this, but at the beginning of the red cabbage juice (or green) treatment, you’ll experience some very unpleasant foul gas.
This is normal. If you are experiencing this, then you are on the mend.
The treatment is starting to have its desired effect (not fouling, but getting your colitis healed).
Here is a video that explains a little bit more about this.
4- Cabbage juice gets rid of ulcers
As I said above, this vegetable is really good for your bowels.
In addition to your bowels, you can also use cabbage juice for ulcers, even the most acute ones too. (5)
First, the juice will clean up your intestine and upper bowel.
At the same time, it will engage in detoxifying them.
With its high content of Vitamin U, it will aim to strengthen your stomach.
To be more precise, it will strengthen the inner layer of your stomach. This will make it stronger and hence highly resistant to ulcers.
Therefore, like some enjoys calling it, ‘cabbage juice ulcer’ is something that you should not undermine.
Note that the Vitamin U is also known as ‘cabbagen’ and the cabbage juice for gastritis is a proven scientific reality.
5- Cabbage anti-inflammatory properties
It is factual, ingesting raw cabbage can reduce your body inflammation. (6)
Research has shown that this plant has strong (and when I say strong, take it that it is strong) properties to alleviate your internal inflammation.
The reason for this is the presence of amino acids.
These acids are responsible for fighting skin and other inflammation. So eat cabbage to get rid of these.
6- Cabbage treat anemia
This is a little controversial but it is true.
People with anemia have difficulties in producing red blood cells. (7)
So it is kind of difficult to accept that cabbage, as a vegetable could help anemic people.
However, this plant contains folic acid as one of its main constituents.
Why is this folic acid so unique? Because it promotes the build of new blood cells.
As such, if you are a victim of anemia, you need to investigate if drinking cabbage juice to treat your condition.
7- Reduces Risk Of Dementia and Alzheimer’s Diseases
Recent research suggests that absorbing red cabbage juicing is extremely good in fighting brain diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer. (8)
Vitamin K is found in the vegetable has properties that allow preventing such illnesses.
I repeat myself here, but this is early research and there is no much out there about it.
However, it is encouraged to consume red cabbage for this. Better be safe than sorry.
8- Cabbage juice anti-aging effect
We already mentioned that cabbage has a lot of antioxidants.
But what we did not tell you is that one of the benefits of red cabbage juice is to improve your skin. (9)
In fact, drinking this vegetable reduces the dryness of your skin.
As you end up with moisturized skin, you will indirectly prevent premature aging.
And I am sure you guessed it, you can drink cabbage, but you can also do some face masks.
People who have done masks clearly stated that it has a reverse effect on wrinkles, with a long-term aim of fine lines disappearing.
9- Cabbage fights acne, blackhead and pimple skin conditions
And we are back to the antioxidants, which are again at the top hierarchy of health benefits of red cabbage juice. (10)
As the vegetable is fully packed with antioxidants and phytochemicals, it is scientifically proven that it does improve your skin.
What you need to know is that both of these properties (antioxidants and phytochemicals) fight free radicals.
Free radicals are known to cause cancer (and we now know that the plant fights this disease).
But at the same time, free radicals cause major skin issues such as promoting acne, pimples, and blackheads.
So, by fighting radicals, you are effectively reducing the number of skin conditions.
In addition to this, the plant is full of Vitamin C.
Vitamin C is a great healer. Ingesting this vegetable in its raw form will speed up the healing procedure.
You should have better, nicer skin in no time.
10- Cabbage juice for hair
Haircare is also an important beauty factor for us ladies.
And cabbage is really good for your hair.
In fact, the benefits of cabbage juice to your hair are quite astonishing.
First, we know that the plant contains a lot of sulfur.
The sulfur makes your hair stronger. It also reduces hair loss and on some occasions stops it.
It also deals with weak hair.
You have two methods of getting the benefits of this plant for your hair.
You either drink raw cabbage juice on a daily basis (or at least 3 times a week). And it is best to do so in the morning before breakfast.
Or you can use it as a hair mask. Just aim to pour the juice on your hair. I know it is better said than done, but it is worthwhile.

It is not easy to find this. However, there are now specialized fruit and vegetable shops that produce this drink (only a few).
